Mentally disable people

image004Saint Yves was particularly attentive towards orphans and widows, who were numerous in that time: he defended them for free willingly because they did not have a complete juridical personality. Indeed, only men were allowed to act in Justice; therefore, a lonely woman or an orphan was not allowed to make a trial in order to make her or his rights recognized. Then, the Church considered as its duty to protect them, as well as all the needy.

Nevertheless, there still be poor people who need being assisted, which is why mentally disable people were welcome as guest of honor at Saint Yves feast in 2008 in Tréguier. Actually, they will never enjoy a full juridical personality. So, the laws of all the countries must help their family and set up their protection, especially before their parents’ death.
