Often, Saint Erwan HÉLORY de KERMARTIN used to celebrate the mass of the Holy Spirit before working with a case. Following his example, the members of the Fraternité make the commitment to keep imploring the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit that are revealed into the Scriptures. For that, the members of the “Fraternité” concretely commit themselves, IN ORDER TO OBTAIN the gifts of:

1. Wisdom, to begin every day praying the Holy Spirit1:

“The heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” (Lk 11,13)

2. Understanding, to study the teaching of the Church and to participate to its thinking2:

“I still have many things to say to you, but they would be too much for you to bear now.” (Jo 16, 12)

3. Counsel, to take part to a pilgrimage to Tréguier, at once in her/her life, to remember that the life of every men is a pilgrimage on this earth and to set up a solemn celebration of Saint Ives’ Feast on 19th of May, or the most convenient day around this date:

“Every year the parents of Jesus used to go to Jerusalem.” (Lk 2, 41)

4. Fortitude, to keep the decision to refuse do plead, to testify, to decide or to judge against one’s conscience:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of uprightness; the kingdom o Heaven is theirs.” (Mt 5, 10)

5. Knowledge, to give every year to the “Fraternité”, according a very Franciscan spirit of detachment from riches, a substantial donation the value of which they will decide in conscience, in order to allow it to help all those who cannot afford a lawyer, or to pay the studies for a disadvantaged student:

“Store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworm destroys them and thieves cannot break in and steal.” (Mt 6, 20)

6. Piety, to take part to a mass, if possible, every 19th of each month, in memory of the death of St Erwan, May 19th 1303, in his manor of Minihy-Tréguier, and to receive communion, after an appropriate preparation that may include a confession:

“Do this in memory of me” (Lk 22, 19)

7. Fear, to promote conciliation, on the one hand, by working to set up authorities for mediation and arbitration everywhere there will be members of the Fraternité; on the other hand, by committing themselves to pray for the pending cases in order to reach true and sustainable reconciliation between litigants:

“Come to terms with your opponent in good time while you are still on the way to the court with him” (Mt 5, 25)
